Vehicle Power of Attorney in the UAE
If you are selling your vehicle or transferring its ownership and cannot complete the process yourself — because you are travelling, leaving the country, or simply cannot attend — a power of attorney is the document that authorises someone else to complete the transaction for you.
When people need it
You are leaving the UAE and the vehicle has not been sold yet. Authorize someone to handle the sale and the ownership transfer after you have gone.
The sale is agreed and you cannot attend — travel, work, or a date that does not suit you.
The owner is outside the country and the transaction is happening here.
A transaction is on hold for one signature — and the buyer is waiting.
What the power of attorney can include
Depending on how it is written:
- Selling the vehicle and transferring ownership
- Signing on your behalf at the relevant traffic authority
- Receiving the sale proceeds, if you choose to include it
- Vehicle inspection, insurance and plate procedures
- Handling outstanding traffic fines
Authority to receive money deserves a separate decision. You can authorize someone to complete the sale without authorizing them to receive the payment. We will ask you directly.
If the vehicle is financed
What we will ask you for
- Passport copy of the owner
- Emirates ID, where the notarization route requires one
- Passport copy and full legal name of the representative
- Vehicle ownership card (Mulkiya)
- Bank no-objection certificate, if the vehicle is financed
- Exactly what the representative should be able to do
The name has to match exactly between the passport and the vehicle ownership card. A name mismatch is one of the most common reasons for rejection — we check it before submission.
How it works
You tell us what you need — message us and describe the situation.
We confirm your price and document list — in writing, before anything is paid.
We prepare and coordinate — including translation and submission to a licensed private notary.
You receive your notarized document — by email, 1–2 working days from the moment we have all your documents.
Processed through official UAE systems
Your document is notarized by a licensed private notary through the official judicial systems in the UAE — Dubai Courts, the Ministry of Justice, or the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department. Nuhuj coordinates the process; the notarization is performed by the licensed notary.
Frequently asked questions
Is the bank no-objection certificate always required?
Only if the vehicle is financed. If it is fully owned, this does not apply.
Can I authorize someone to sell without letting them receive the payment?
Yes. Selling and receiving payment are separate authorities — tell us which you want included.
Do I need an Emirates ID?
Not always. Notarization through Dubai Courts requires a valid Emirates ID. Other routes accept a passport. Which one applies depends on your situation, the emirate and the document — tell us and we will confirm exactly what is needed, and the exact price, before you pay anything.
Can I do this from outside the UAE?
Yes. Verification is completed remotely by video call, so you do not need to travel.
Can I revoke it?
Yes. Message us and we will explain what the revocation process involves for your document.
How long does it take?
1–2 working days from the moment we have all your documents.
What language is the document issued in?
Arabic. Bilingual translation of one page is included in the price; each additional translated page is AED 150.
Not sure what comes next?
Describe your situation — whether the vehicle is financed, and whether you want the representative to receive the payment — and we will confirm the price and document list in writing. Asking costs nothing.
