Power of Attorney for a Court Case or Lawsuit in the UAE
If you cannot attend proceedings yourself — because you are abroad, unwell, travelling, or simply because your lawyer will handle it — a court power of attorney authorises someone to act for you.

What a court power of attorney does
It grants a named person the authority to act on your behalf in proceedings — which, depending on how it is worded, can include attending hearings, filing and receiving documents, and signing on defined matters.
The wording is the whole document. Authority drawn too narrowly leaves your representative unable to do the thing you needed them for, and you find out at the worst possible moment. Authority drawn too widely hands over more than you intended.
We will ask you exactly what your representative should be able to do, and what they should not. If your lawyer has told you which powers the document must contain, send us that — we will make sure the document says it.
Who needs one
You are outside the UAE and have a matter here. The most common reason. You do not need to travel.
You have appointed a lawyer and they have asked you for a notarized power of attorney before they can act.
You cannot attend — travel, illness, work, or a hearing date you cannot make.
You are acting for a company and need a named representative authorised to act for it in proceedings.
A family member is handling a matter for you and needs formal authority to do it.
What this service is not
We are not lawyers and we do not give legal advice. If you need to know whether to bring a case, how strong it is, or what to argue, that is a question for a lawyer.
We do not represent you. The power of attorney authorises the person you choose. We prepare and coordinate the document; we never act under it.
We do not find you a lawyer or recommend one. Who you appoint is entirely your decision.
We do not draft legal pleadings. If your lawyer needs specific wording inside the power of attorney, they provide it and we make sure the document carries it correctly.
If you already have a lawyer, this is usually the fastest part of your matter. If you do not have one yet, appoint them first — the power of attorney names them, so it cannot be prepared before that decision is made.

Individual
From AED 1,050A power of attorney authorising someone to act for you personally in proceedings.
Company
From AED 1,350A power of attorney authorising a named representative to act for a company in proceedings.
Both include one principal, one attorney and one translated page. Each additional translated page — AED 150. Each additional principal or attorney — AED 300.
The price is confirmed to you in writing before you pay anything.
What we will ask you for
- Passport copy of the person granting the authority
- Emirates ID, where the notarization route requires one
- Passport copy — and full legal name — of the person being authorised
- The powers to be granted, in the words your lawyer gave you, if you have them
- Case or file reference, if proceedings have already started
- For a company: trade licence, and a board resolution where one is required
Names must match exactly across the passport, the document and the case file. A mismatched name is one of the most common reasons a document is rejected — we check this before submission.

Processed through official UAE systems
Your document is notarized by a licensed private notary through the official judicial systems in the UAE — Dubai Courts, the Ministry of Justice, or the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department. Nuhuj coordinates the process; the notarization is performed by the licensed notary.
If you have a hearing date
Tell us the date in your first message.
Our standard turnaround is 1–2 working days from the moment we have everything from you — but the working week here runs Monday to Saturday, and a document needing an unusual power or extra translated pages takes longer to prepare correctly.
If your deadline is not achievable, we will tell you before you pay, not after.
Frequently asked questions
Do you represent me in court?
No. Nuhuj is not a law firm and does not appear in proceedings. We coordinate the notarization of the power of attorney that authorises the person you have chosen.
Can I use this to appoint my lawyer?
Yes — that is the most common use. Your lawyer is named in the document, and it authorises them to act for you within the powers it states.
Do you provide a lawyer?
No. We do not recommend, refer or provide legal representation. Appointing your representative is your decision, and it has to be made before the document can be prepared.
What is the difference between a general and a special power of attorney for a court case?
A special power of attorney grants authority for one defined matter — usually a specific case. A general power of attorney grants broad authority across many matters, of which proceedings would be one. For a single case, a special power of attorney is usually the safer choice: it does what you need without handing over more than you intended.
Do I need an Emirates ID?
Not always. Notarization through Dubai Courts requires a valid Emirates ID. Other routes accept a passport. Which one applies depends on your situation, the emirate and the document — tell us and we will confirm exactly what is needed, and the exact price, before you pay anything.
Can I do this from outside the UAE?
Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people use us for this document. Identity verification with the notary is completed by video call.
My case is in Sharjah, not Dubai. Does that matter?
We coordinate through the official judicial systems in the UAE, in all seven. Tell us where the proceedings are so the document is prepared for the right authority. The price does not change by emirate.
Can I limit what my representative is allowed to do?
Yes, and you generally should. Tell us what you want included and excluded, and the document will reflect it.
Can I cancel it later?
A power of attorney can be revoked. Message us and we will explain what the revocation process involves for your document.
How long does it take?
1–2 working days from the moment we have all your documents. If you have a hearing date, tell us at the start and we will confirm whether it is achievable before you pay.
What language is the document issued in?
Arabic. Bilingual translation of one page is included in the price; each additional translated page is AED 150.
